JACK
John Redgrave, shiny new Marquis of Strickland, has lost more than most men can bear. If little open-hearted Melody is not his daughter, Jack isn’t sure his war-battered soul can stand another blow. So when pretty Laurel shows up to steal Melody away, Jack is both thrilled to learn that Melody is his and stunned to realize that the woman he spent the most important night of his life with was young, innocent Laurel, not her older, wordly sister Amaryllis! Horrified at his mistake, Jack still cannot allow Laurel to take Melody and disappear. Furious Laurel won’t listen to reason, not that Jack is feeling very articulate anyway, so into the attic with her and a quick twist of the lock! Um…wait…maybe that wasn’t such a hot idea. Now he has the severely ticked off mother of his child in a cage and a houseful of nosy friends who have the annoying need to help him all the time! How is an evil kidnapper/doting father supposed to get anything set right under such conditions?
